Comprehensive Car Flow System parking system for the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński Voivodeship Specialist Hospital in Lublin

We are pleased to present one of the largest Car Flow System installations in recent months. We designed, supplied, installed, and commissioned a comprehensive parking system for the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński Voivodeship Specialist Hospital in Lublin – one of the region's key medical facilities. The investment was carried out in cooperation with our partner, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Polska, and represents one of the most extensive projects implemented by Car Flow System to date at a public-use facility.

An impressive scale of the project

The project for the hospital in Lublin is one of the most extensive parking projects we have implemented recently. The scale of the investment covers dozens of devices distributed across the hospital complex, forming a coherent, fully automated parking management system:

  • 19 entry and exit terminals – handling vehicle traffic at multiple entry and exit points on the hospital grounds
  • 20 Premium parking barriers – controlling physical access to parking zones
  • 19 LPR cameras for automatic license plate recognition
  • 3 automatic pay stations enabling fast, unattended fee payment
  • full support for cash and cashless payments
  • support for subscriptions, QR codes, and advanced reservation functionality

Such a large number of devices, integrated within a single system, required precise infrastructure design that accounted for the specific traffic patterns of an active medical facility, the different groups of users, and the need to maintain full continuity of hospital operations at every stage of the implementation.

Why do hospitals require a specialized approach to parking systems?

Hospital facilities are among the most demanding sites when it comes to organizing vehicle traffic. Every day, different groups of drivers move around the hospital grounds – patients, visitors, medical staff, ambulances, suppliers, and service vehicles. Each of these groups requires a different level of access, different fee rules, and a different traffic priority.

Car Flow System specializes in parking system implementations for medical facilities, designing solutions that combine high throughput with full security and management flexibility. Thanks to this experience, we were able to design infrastructure that meets the real needs of such a large hospital complex as the Voivodeship Specialist Hospital in Lublin.

19 entry and exit terminals across the hospital complex

At the core of the system is an extensive network of 19 parking terminals, positioned at key entry and exit points across the hospital grounds. The terminals are equipped with color touch screens and a multilingual user interface, ensuring intuitive operation for patients and visitors as well as for medical staff using subscriptions.

  • Entry Terminal CFS-S-E15
  • Exit Terminal CFS-S-X15
  • 15" color touch screens
  • multilingual user interface (up to 6 languages)
  • QR code ticket issuance
  • support for Mifare subscription cards for hospital staff
  • QR code support
  • cashless payment support at exit terminals (NFC, BLIK, PayPass)
  • voice communication with the operator, essential in situations requiring a quick response

Such a large number of terminals allows traffic to be evenly distributed across the entire complex, minimizing the risk of congestion at critical entry and exit points – particularly important near the Admissions Department and the Emergency Department.

3 automatic pay stations CFS-S-AP15

As part of the investment, we installed 3 automatic pay stations, allowing patients and visitors to settle parking fees quickly and conveniently without involving hospital staff.

  • 15" color touch screen
  • cashless payment support (NFC, BLIK, PayPass)
  • QR code support
  • banknote acceptance
  • coin change dispensing
  • printing of receipts and payment confirmations, including simplified invoices with a VAT number
  • VoIP voice communication

Distributing the pay stations across different points of the complex reduces the distance patients and visitors need to travel, which is particularly important for elderly or mobility-impaired individuals, who make up a large share of the hospital's visitors.

19 LPR cameras – automatic license plate recognition on the scale of an entire complex

The parking system uses 19 LPR cameras, which automatically recognize the license plates of vehicles entering and leaving the hospital grounds. This is one of the most extensive deployments of LPR technology at a medical facility in Poland, covering practically every entry point to the site.

  • LPR Cameras - 19 units
  • real-time license plate recognition, regardless of time of day or weather conditions
  • automatic identification of medical staff and subscription vehicles without the need for a card or ticket
  • integration with the central database and CarFlow 2.12 software
  • a higher level of security and traffic control across the medical facility

LPR technology deployed at this scale significantly reduces vehicle processing time at entry and exit, resulting in smoother traffic flow throughout the entire hospital complex, including during peak visitor hours.

Premium parking barriers

Physical access control to the parking zones is provided by 20 Premium parking barriers, distributed across the entire hospital complex. This is the solution we recommend for facilities with exceptionally high traffic and demanding reliability requirements, such as medical facilities operating around the clock.

  • 24VDC motor with integrated encoder
  • advanced anti-crush protection
  • smooth adjustment of opening and closing speed
  • high resistance to intensive, round-the-clock use
  • the ability to remotely open and lock barriers from within CarFlow 2.12 software

The high reliability of the Premium barriers is critical in a hospital setting, where any malfunction could disrupt the smooth flow of privileged vehicles, medical staff, and patients.

CarFlow 2.12 software – a single, coherent parking management ecosystem

The entire, extensive infrastructure – terminals, pay stations, LPR cameras, and barriers – was integrated within a single, coherent management system based on CarFlow 2.12 software. This gave the hospital administration a central tool for overseeing all parking traffic across the complex.

  • management of the entire system from a web browser, from anywhere
  • support for Mifare subscription cards for medical staff
  • support for QR codes for patients and visitors
  • advanced reservation functionality – the ability to reserve parking spaces from within the system or via external integration
  • automatic fee calculation based on user type (patient, visitor, staff, privileged vehicle)
  • real-time reporting and vehicle traffic statistics
  • VoIP voice communication with the operator at each of the 19 terminals
  • the ability for further integration with the hospital's internal systems (API)

The reservation module also enables precise management of parking spaces reserved for specific user groups, which is important at a facility where the availability of parking spaces directly affects patients' comfort and the time it takes them to reach the facility.

Results of the implementation

A project of this scale delivered measurable operational and reputational benefits for the Voivodeship Specialist Hospital in Lublin:

  • more efficient organization of vehicle traffic across the entire hospital complex
  • full automation of parking processes, from entry, through vehicle identification, to payment and exit
  • greater infrastructure throughput thanks to the even distribution of traffic across 19 terminals and 19 LPR cameras
  • higher comfort for users – patients, visitors, and medical staff
  • modern parking management tools, accessible to hospital administration from a web browser
  • increased security thanks to full access control and vehicle identification at every entry point

The significance of the project for public-use facilities

The implementation of the Car Flow System parking system at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński Voivodeship Specialist Hospital in Lublin is one of the most extensive installations in our company's history – both in terms of the number of installed devices (19 terminals, 20 Premium barriers, 19 LPR cameras, and 3 automatic pay stations) and the complexity of the entire project.

A project of this scale clearly confirms that Car Flow System solutions effectively meet the needs of the most demanding public-use facilities, including medical institutions, where reliability, security, and smooth traffic flow are of key importance – including in the context of accessibility for privileged vehicles and ambulances.
